KKC Art Studio “Vaivorykštė” – 80

This year, the Kaunas Cultural Center art studio “Vaivorykštė” celebrates its 80th anniversary. It is the oldest continuously operating adult art studio in Lithuania, bringing together people passionate about creativity for eight decades. On October 15, we invite you to a jubilee event where communities from various Lithuanian adult art studios will meet. During the event, exhibitions from three art studios operating in Kaunas, Jurbarkas, and Zarasai will open, a discussion “Amateur or Creator?” will take place, and the evening will conclude with a commemorative meeting with people who created and nurtured “Vaivorykštė” during different periods of its existence. PROGRAM: 3:30 PM Exhibition visits and meetings with authors: Jurbarkas art studio “Formos kalba”, operating at the Vincas Grybauskaitė Memorial Museum, miniatures exhibition. Head: Rasa Grybaitė. (1st floor foyer); Zarasai Faustas Latėnas School of Art adult group exhibition. (Head: Petronė Sekonienė) (2nd floor foyer); Kaunas Cultural Center art studio “Vaivorykštė” painting exhibition. Head: Agnietė Janušaitė-Vitkūnienė. (Small hall) 4:30 PM Art studio exhibitions opening. (Small hall) 5:30 PM Discussion “Amateur or Creator?” (Small hall) Participants: Dr. Rasa Andriušytė-Žukienė, art historian; Valentinas Jezerskas, member of the Art Council of the Kaunas community of the Lithuanian Folk Artists Association; Edvinas Batulevičius, director of “New Art Center”; Oksana Judakova, outsider art researcher and curator; Eleonora Čepulienė, longtime member of art studio “Vaivorykštė”. 6:30 PM Coffee break. 7:00 PM Commemorative evening “Conversation with VAIVORYKŠTĖ creators” (Small hall) Participants: former studio heads: Edmundas Saladžius; Gražina Kuprevičienė; Asta Vandytė; studio members and friends.
