Linas Kaziulionis Exhibition “Evidence”

From September 4–27, at the Exhibition Hall of the Klaipėda Cultural Communication Center (KKKC), Didžioji Vandens g. 2, Linas Kaziulionis’ exhibition “Evidence” is on view, presenting works from different periods and creative cycles. They are united by Kaziulionis’ characteristic interest in the relationship between humans and information, the narratives it creates, and our ability to distinguish reality from fiction. The excess of information we receive every day can not only inform, but also mislead, exhaust, or shape our beliefs. This tension is also reflected in Kaziulionis’ painting itself. An image that is attractive at first glance may conceal an entirely different story. Visual appeal becomes not only an aesthetic choice, but also a way of speaking about attention — how it is captured, directed, and how it can shape our relationship with reality.

Each work can be understood as a separate story and at the same time as a fragment of a larger narrative. They intertwine fragments of everyday life, recognizable symbols, motifs from conspiracy theories, and fictional stories. The artist does not seek to provide final conclusions or reveal a single specific “truth.” Using symbolism, mysticism, irony, and ambiguity, he intentionally does not separate reality from fiction and leaves room for the viewer’s personal interpretations.

The exhibition becomes a kind of experiment, examining not only what information we accept, but also why we are inclined to believe it. It invites visitors to take a closer look at the images and stories around them and to consider how much of the reality we perceive is based on facts, and how much on interpretations, emotions, and stories constructed by others.

Linas Kaziulionis (b. 1993) is a painter and street artist, a master’s student at the Vilnius Academy of Arts (VDA), who won the prize for the best young painter in the Baltic states in 2022. The artist has held solo exhibitions in Lithuania (Vilnius Town Hall, Pamėnkalnio galerija, Tumo galerija, Trakų Vokės dvaras) and abroad (Čiurlionio galerija Čikagoje (JAV), H-Gallery Paryžiuje (Prancūzija), SLA galerija Niujorke (JAV), ES atstovybė Briuselyje (Belgija); and has participated in group exhibitions in Japan, Iceland, Belgium, and elsewhere. Linas Kaziulionis also actively paints on canvas and is valued for his distinctive bright painting style, excellent command of color, insightful themes, including large-format mural drawings.
