SUMMARY:Senior Thursdays at KKKC
DESCRIPTION:Klaipėda Cultural Communication Center (KKKC) headed by watercolor artist
Liuda Liaudanskaite\, known throughout Western Lithuania\, organizes senior
Thursdays for (non)artistic seniors. On the last Thursdays of the month\,
active seniors travel to experience culture at Klaipėda's art institutions
and beyond. Exhibitions\, events\, educational programs\, meetings with fa
mous people\, trips to nearby cities\, gatherings in cafes and genuine huma
n relationships – all of this happens at Senior Thursdays in Klaipėda. W
atercolor artist Liuda Liaudanskaite\, who founded this initiative\, says t
hat when she retired\, she thought she would enjoy complete freedom and unl
imited time\, but once it happened\, she missed commitment to people and es
pecially communication. Finally\, encouraged by friends\, she ended up at K
KKC administration and began bringing seniors together for cultural activit
ies. "We have been buzzing around Klaipėda's cultural life since autumn 20
23 without breaks. Because exhibitions don't take holidays!" says Liuda. Ac
cording to her\, exhibitions evolve into educational programs and often int
o cafe conversations. "Some people dropped out\, but a core group of about
10 people remained. We all became close\, know a lot about each other\, and
bring our friends." Mostly women participate\, but some seniors also come
accompanying their partners\, or on their own. People participate from vari
ous walks of life: not only artists\, but also a pharmacist\, an accountant
 \, a sailor's wife who started painting after retirement\, and a poet's wid
ow. Seniors share recommendations about cinema\, theater\, literature\, exc
hange plants\, celebrate birthdays – traditions are born. During summer t
here will be no breaks\, and seniors will continue to gather on the last Th
ursday of each month at KKKC Exhibition Hall around 11–12 a.m. (time adju
sted each time by mutual agreement). For more information\, contact Liuda L
iaudanskaite at tel. +370 60030156 or email liuda_vsn@yahoo.com We inform y
ou that participants may be visible in photographs and videos of the event
published in various media outlets. The post Senior Thursdays at KKKC appea
red first on Klaipėda Cultural Communication Center.
