 ow might the story of Mary of Egypt in the 21st century\, wandering through
  an urbanized “desert” and searching for liberation\, look? Has there b
 een less violence in our society as it has become more civilized? Has it be
 come more empathetic? More forgiving? More tolerant? Finally\, less patriar
 chal?Today\, Mary of Egypt can be any woman - a mother\, daughter\, sister\
 , wife\, navigating every day that sharp line between the saint and the sin

 t especially important X territory. “Šventoji” is a territory of viole
 nce\, where a woman who has suffered violence and dependence throughout her
  life finds the strength to break out of her crisis and choose a radically 
 different path in life. This is a performance about a woman’s survival in
