“Chronology of Water”

Swimming for Lidia is not just a sport, but the only safe refuge from a complicated everyday life: an abusive father and emotionally distant mother. However, the peace of the pool does not protect against the later blows of fate – rebellious adolescence, struggles with addictions, and the devastating experience of losing her firstborn. Lidia drowns in her pain so she can emerge again. The path to healing leads through writing and the courage to accept her body and her past as it was – unpolished and real.

“Chronology of Water” is a rare example of cinema where a biographical story does not become a dry collection of facts, but transforms into a living, breathing experience. Created from the cult memoirs of Lidia Yuknavitch, in this film actress Kristen Stewart makes her directorial debut by rejecting conventional linear narrative structure, instead choosing a flowing, fragmented aesthetic in which memory waves like the ocean.
