Comedy “O My God!”

BUY TICKET Psychologist Ela, breaking her own rules, sees a client after work who threatens that without urgent psychological help something irreparable will happen. The visitor introduces himself… as God.- Ha ha ha! What happened that even God needs help?! It turns out Ela has only 40 minutes to save the world.A light, witty, yet intellectual and prophetic dialogue between Creator and Creation, on which EVERYTHING depends!”Anat Gov’s play “O My God” at first glance appears to be a fairly simple comedy, astounding from the first pages with its fantastic situation – God demands the help of a children’s psychotherapist Ela, otherwise something irreparable will happen (as it turns out – an “improved flood”, “forks for everyone, even the chosen ones”). Ela has only one session to save the world, part of which was “consumed” by Ela’s disbelief that the client is God.We watch most of the play as a sparkling and funny stand-up with well-known biblical themes and brilliantly constructed dialogues and jokes. The basic comedy goal of astounding and making the audience laugh is achieved. However, the comedy’s ordinariness (unexpectedly, like a lightning strike) suddenly gives way when the second layer of the play opens. When the drama of the characters is revealed, who, as it is commonly thought, are the least psychologically vulnerable (Ela is a psychotherapist, and God is all-powerful).The playwright set herself an extraordinarily complex, risky task – to make the audience laugh and evoke catharsis in one performance (let us recall that catharsis, a necessary element of tragedy, is by no means mandatory in comedy). Thus, paradoxically, Anat Gov’s comedy draws tears. And another paradox – the Israeli playwright acted in a completely non-Jewish manner – she sold two for the price of one. It is a must to take advantage of this!”- Play translator, poet, playwright Mindaugas Valiukas “I’m curious what God looks like? Now I know what he looks like and how he feels… I have that privilege. It’s very interesting.”- Actor Vaidotas Martinaitis “What would you ask if you had the chance to meet God face to face? My character Ela confidently says “I don’t believe in God! Look around, does it seem to you that God exists?!” She, raising an autistic son alone and working as a psychologist, has had enough opportunities in her life to be horrified and disappointed. However, this meeting will be fateful. And it’s unknown which one will help the other survive the healing transformation”. – Actress Valda Bičkutė”I have always been interested in the roles of “different” people, those whom the majority of society avoids or who seem unacceptable. I am interested in
