“The Scent of Time”
How does time smell? What is its texture?
Does it smell like coffee? Like freshly laundered bed linen?
Like an old oak cabinet? Or like mother’s homemade berry jam or an old storage room where bacon and dried meat hang?
Or perhaps it smells like freshly ground flour, hay stored in a barn, fresh milk, freshly cut grass, dust settled by rain, mother’s perfume, father’s car, a burning stove, freshly plowed earth or freshly pressed apple juice?
Our brains have an extraordinary ability to store countless scents as if in memory storage, to remember them and, when we smell them, to retrieve related memories from the most distant corners of our minds, to recreate images, to let us travel through time.
So this photography exhibition is an attempt to awaken with images the memories and pleasant scents hidden in the depths of your memory.
To give you the opportunity to travel through time…
Let us try to imagine how grandmother’s knitted woolen threads smell,
how a repaired bicycle smells, an old barn.
Let us imagine and smell…”
