Film “Resurrection”
“Resurrection”
In a future world, humanity has achieved immortality but lost the ability to dream. Dreams remain only in the consciousness of a handful of persecuted “deliriants.” A scientist known as the Great Other pursues one of them – the mysterious Phantasm, who can change form and hide in worlds of celluloid. Finding him weakened, the woman installs a film projector in his chest and embarks on a journey through six dreams – each embodying a different human sense, film style, and dramatic fragment of 20th century Chinese history.
“Awarded the Special Jury Prize at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, “Resurrection” is a work for cinephiles. The viewer here does not merely follow the plot – they immerse themselves in a sensory odyssey: from German Expressionism and film noir shadows to vampire thrillers and the heart-wrenching story of an orphan and a con artist. You will recognize countless references to cinema history giants – from the Lumière brothers to Wong Kar-wai – and become convinced that cinema is not just entertainment, but a spiritual substance capable of uniting epochs, cultures, and human destinies.” (Program curator Karolis Žukas)
