HISTORICAL DRAMA ON MEDVĖGALIS HILL

History could have been. Perhaps it is. Or perhaps it still lies ahead. On the evening of September 5, the legendary Medvėgalio piliakalnis will become not only an exceptional theater stage, but also a place where music, history, nature and human imagination will merge. Here Šilalės muzikinis teatras will present the renewed musical performance – „Istorinė drama ant Medvėgalio kalno“. This is not a reconstruction of a historical event or an illustration from a history textbook. It is a symbolic story about human choice, love, duty and responsibility. About the moments when one must choose between personal happiness and the common good, between the voice of the heart and duty, between the old world and a new tomorrow. That is why the creators of the performance invite the audience not to look for exact historical dates or facts, but to consider eternal values. For history repeats itself. Times change, people change, rulers change, yet love, betrayal, sacrifice, the thirst for power and faith accompany every era. Perhaps that is why the motto of the performance sounds so simple and at the same time meaningful – „Istorija galėjo būti. Galbūt yra. Arba dar bus.“ The musical basis of the performance was created according to the music of Žerardo Presgurviko, and the Lithuanian texts were specially written for this production by Soneta Būdvytienė. Director Antanas Kazlauskas creates this story as a universal legend about a person and their choices, where love, duty, power and faith meet. The main roles in the performance are created by Egidijus Bavikinas, Soneta Būdvytienė, Andrius Apšega, Ilona Raudonienė, Juozas Sutkaitis, Jolanta Kažukauskienė, Edita Tutliūtė, Mantas Toleikis, Paulius Skurdelis, Alvydas Rudys and Laima Andrejauskienė, the dance group „Mainytinis“, the Šilalės muzikinio teatro choras and the fire show group VIDURAMŽIAI LT. An important part of the atmosphere will be created by the video projections author Algirdas Šaulys, sound and light director Darius Vasiliauskas, set designer Vidmantas Dargis, and costume designers Daiva Kaunienė and Livija Valauskytė, whose creative decisions will turn Medvėgalio piliakalnis into a living stage narrative. This production is another step by Šilalės muzikinis teatras in creating original large-scale musical performances in unconventional spaces. Medvėgalis was chosen not by chance – it is a place where history, legends and the grandeur of nature allow the viewer to feel not like an observer, but part of this story. On September 5 at 20.00 val. Medvėgalio piliakalnis will once again shine with the flames of torches and stage lights. And at the end of the evening, every viewer may perhaps answer for themselves one simple question – whether this story remained
