A devilishly significant chapter of life. Many are already saying – pour your colorful stories into a book. But lo and behold – not a book was born, but a performance. Today, most of us have forgotten that the famous TV host and events presenter Gintaras Mikalauskas is first and foremost – a professional actor. He returns to the theater stage with the performance “Behind the Scenes”, created based on his life’s twists and turns. The witty TV host and state celebrations presenter, charismatic actor, and – a single father who overcame the demons of addiction 30 years ago. What was more present in Gintaras’ life – the anecdotal situations on “Sunday Lottery” or sleepless nights by his daughter’s bed? Which behind-the-scenes are more colorful – life’s or the stage’s? “A few evenings by the fireplace at Gintaras’ home, hours upon hours of funny stories, one or two manly tears – this is how the performance script was born, about a changing life, huge rises, deep falls and finally the love that brought peace. Can there be better dramaturgy than that created by life itself?” – smiles the performance director. The premiere of the performance took place on the occasion of Gintaras’ 65th birthday, so all threads ultimately lead to a life question: “What if the father, a well-known man, had been afraid of scandal and had not married a second-year student ten years his junior? Then that pip would not have appeared 65 years ago, with such a gene cocktail, an artist’s karma and an unusual life. A life worthy of flowers and ovations!” Somewhat fun, somewhat funny, somewhat tender, somewhat serious, but entirely sincere and open… Such will be this meeting with Gintaras Mikalauskas.
