Performance “General Rehearsal”
FREE EVENT
This year, the Kazys Binkis Theater of the Kaunas Cultural Center celebrates its 90th anniversary! The theater’s history, which began in 1936, continues to this day – over the decades, the theater has nurtured creators, staged performances beloved by audiences, and preserved the traditions of amateur theater. In honor of the anniversary, three performances await the audience: “Chilling Events at the Pabališkiai Tavern”, “General Rehearsal”, and “Randor Kvit Or Who is Smarter?”. We invite you to meet and celebrate the 90 years of creative history together! Kazys Binkis’s grotesque drama “General Rehearsal” is written against the backdrop of world-shaking events, when everything seems “…comfortable, bright, pleasant, only intermittently sensing the approaching storm’s sounds…”. Soon, the calm everyday life appears to be an unreachable ray of happiness, and human values lose their meaning against incomprehensible ambitions that demand the most precious – human life. Today, we experience a similar state ourselves. We are ordinary people, without influence on the decisions of the “powerful”. What is the happiness and meaning of life for the “little person” in such a world of lost values? There is no exact answer – we only know that we live once…
