A Love Detective

Zilis wakes up in a hospital with a bandaged head and amnesia. A beautiful woman enters his room claiming she is Liza – his wife, and Žilis – her husband.
Liza takes Žilis home and begins to tell the story of their life together, which he doesn’t remember at all!

Thus begins an intellectual duel between these two people, a labyrinth of relationships, traps of memories. Who is lying? Or maybe both? The longer they talk, the more layers unfold: tenderness becomes threatening, and humor – a masked attack. Dialogues work like a chess game where truth changes with every sentence.

What is love? Can it be recreated? Perhaps marriage is a creative process where spouses seek to recreate each other? Or perhaps – a murderers’ alliance?
Shmitt combines philosophical questions with everyday details, masterfully combining erotic play, black humor and psychological intrigue.

Director OLEGAS ŠAPOŠNIKOVAS (LV), being also a professional psychologist, creates a deeply grounded and motivated stage action.

A charismatic duo of actors VALDA BIČKUTĖ and VYTAUTAS RUMŠIS (jr.) impressively convey the complex experiences of the characters.

Set designer MARIJUS JACOVSKIS and costume designer JUOZAS VALENTA created a recognizable yet aesthetically stylized space for the performance.
